Elicitation of stakeholder’s requirements and constraints for the renovation process.
The Energy retrofitting of the European Building stock is one of the most effective measures to accomplish the EU Objectives in terms of sustainability and low carbon economy. Energy retrofitting offers tangible benefits beyond energy cost saving, including the reduction of CO2 emissions, reduction of demolition wastes, and added value to the building.
The challenge is that the complexity of changing in use buildings and low cost-effectiveness of the current renovation process makes retrofitting often unaffordable. In addition, the renovation process is a sequence of activities, with many interlinked dependencies between several stakeholders, usually requiring various services in a very fragmented market. All these drawbacks that hinder the growth of renovation in the construction sector require a comprehensive understanding to solve them, so as to achieve a transformation of the sector.
The task T1.1. of BIM4REN which gives rise to the writing of this deliverable deals with the elicitation of stakeholder’s requirements and constraints of the renovation process. This preliminary identification serves to understand the connection between stakeholders within and across renovation phases, covering the information exchanges, focusing on the information needs and potential improvements to make the process more cost-effective. The deliverable thereby delivers a renovation information exchange framework that aids in tackling the analysis of renovation process barriers from a wide range of sector stakeholder perspectives. The result is an identification of key factors of improved digitalisation so as to consequently optimize the renovation process.
